K. Michelle stormed the Essence Festival stage and killed. She was the talk of the town. Essence gave us a quick clip of her bodying the vocals to her song “My Life” which features rapper Meek Mill, from her debut album “Rebellious Soul”. She hoots and hollers to the melody, giving us such a down south guttural journey. We must say, with all this live performing she has been doing for the past year, she has definitely enhanced her stage presence and can definitely rock a crowd. Makes us proud to see her booking such a large venue and showing the f*ck out.   Continue Reading →

Khia Releases New Single “My X” – Retro 90′s Sound

Khia Love Locs

Khia, Queen Khia, Khia Shamone, or Khia Motormouf, all aliases for Khia, who has recently been releasing surprisingly and somewhat good R&B songs. It’s a bit shocking to hear her cooing over melodic R&B instrumentals, yet for some reason I can’t resist listening.

From her “Love Locs’ album, which is “Coming Soon”, she has released a 90′s-feeling-dance-R&B-sounding record titled “My X”. In the YouTube audio video, there is a still of Khia the Queen wearing decorative headdress with what appears to be Fulani tribal face paint. We must say that she looks beautiful and we would assume the still is the single cover.

Check out “My X” from Khia’s “Love Locs”, as well continue reading for another Khia track that may surprise you.

Recently hitting us with “Way The Game Goes” and “Whole Thing”, Jim Jones has been on a roll this year.

Ke Ke Wyatt for BE Magazine + Quick EP Review

Ke Ke Wyatt for Be Magazine

Photo Credit: Talking With Tami / BE Magazine

Ke Ke Wyatt is undisputed the leading talent from TV One’s R&B Divas: Atlanta cast. She has been deemed across social media as the most entertaining and interesting cast member and if you ask me, the most vocally diverse one of the bunch. She has beckoned to the call to the mic and has recently released an self-titled EP, “Ke Ke”. I do want to add that the EP is amazing. She has flawless executed that old 90′s vocal prowess we loved and paired it with the new trendy sound and direction Adult Contemporary R&B is headed. She has kept her musicality intact without trying to forcefully compete with the young, up, and coming talent that we see today.

The Weeknd Releases Song “Often”, Samples Old Turkish Song

The Weeknd -

The Weeknd is and always been an artist that captures my attention. Gotta’ love him for his creativity and ingenuity. He has always pushed the envelop with sound, whether it’s loved or hated, I cannot say, that he does not give something refreshing whenever he releases something. With that being said,   I been digging around the net and found out that he has released new music. Not confirmed if this is for a new project or will it get the red-carpet-single-treatment, but I fucking love this track.

Lupita Nyong’o Snags Vogue Cover, Gives An INSPIRING Message

The beautiful and talented actress, Lupita Nyong’o is gracing us with a Vogue cover. Lupita snags and snatches the attention in her breathtaking and captivating photographs and her words on recent events in her life. Following this beautiful woman, I have always found that she speaks eloquently and always has a leading message that usually includes a small dose of motivation and inspiration. We definitely applaud her success and we are simply amazed at her snagging this Vogue cover shoot. From the excepted photos and article Q&A we’ve seen, this cover is going to be something to hold on to. Catch the excerpts and be inspired.

On being a Lancôme ambassador:

“What I appreciate about all of the ambassadors [currently Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, and Penélope Cruz], is that they are very different, unique women—it’s not about conforming to an already established idea of what is beautiful, and I like that.”

On her life changing following the release of 12 Years a Slave:

“It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me—before I recognized them!”

“I remember after the SAG awards, I arrived late one night at the airport and they [paparazzi] were everywhere. For a split second I looked behind me to see who they were flashing at—and it was me!”

“That was, I think, the beginning of the end of my anonymity.”
